Training
Acre believes in investing in training across all levels of office and field activities - from
Construction and Installation Engineers, to Breakdown Engineers, Fitters and Assistants.
In ‘the old days’ new engineers would have been trained and apprenticed at large companies but
unfortunately this is no longer the case. Some time ago Acre realised that the best way to meet this
shortfall and to maintain (and raise) standards was for us to take on the task of staff training
ourselves.
For example, new recruits joining Acre Lifts with a view to becoming Lift Fitter's are vetted for
a career in this industry and are trained as fitters or apprentices under the expert guidance of our
senior engineers and technicians - we are now training 8 Improvers and 7 apprentices in this way.
Technology doesn’t stand still and so, for us, staff training is an ongoing process, with a number
of our engineers receiving training in new lift-control systems and other technologies as they are
developed.
Our General Manager undertook the Health & Safety NEBOSH exam and passed in March 2002, so enabling
Acre Lifts to have an internal, qualified Health & Safety representative, which further supports our
commitment to Health & Safety.
